Well, I just took a look at the statistics for this month and saw that this blog has received it's 100,000th hit for the month of June. I am sure that there are a lot of big-time bloggers out there who get 100,000 hits in a single day and I'm certainly not one of them. However, I don't really consider myself a "blogger" per se - I've always felt like I was just another developer writing code and experimenting with things - and just sharing those experiences with anybody who will listen.
Anyway, I just wanted to say Thank You!!! to all of the people who read this blog. I have grown so much as a person and as a developer through this blog, and I plan on continuing to do more things through this blog. If there are things you think I should be doing, or subjects you'd like me to cover, please post them here in the comments section as I plan on doing this for as long as people will listen to me.
Again, thanks so much for reading this blog... seeing that people actually read this stuff is a really moving and humbling experience for me.
I read your blog because it is interesting and provides an intellectual
experience most other blogs are bereft of. I'm not that surprised to hear
you have so many hits.
Wow, thanks for the vote of confidence. Comments like that inspire me to
keep going with this blog.
On a whim, I attended your lunchtime session at WWDC, even though I'm a
sysadmin and not a programmer per se. In my environment my role is somewhat
schizophrenic--I'm the lead on special Macintosh projects (I prefer the Mac
world) but also the direct support sysadmin for a bunch of MVS COBOL
programmers who are trying to transition to .NET (it gets crazier--we're
largely a Novell shop). As such, I am simultaneously trying to learn .NET
(ASP, C#, _AND_ VB) and Cocoa. Your session was incredibly helpful in
unifying the two worlds, and ever since I've been following your blog with
great interest (I also bought your C# book based on the clarity of your
communication). It's a rare viewpoint that can write in depth about .NET
and Cocoa and fully buy into the engineering mentality of each. Thank you,
and congratulations on your readership!
Johnnie - Thanks so much for the kind words!! Much appreciated and I hope I
can continue to put out blog posts that live up to such high expectations.
I've run into you a few times while Googling but didn't subscribe until
referred here by Roughly Drafted.
