And in keeping with Microsoft tradition, the loot bags get more and more elaborate. This year's Tech-Ed bag is quite the sturdy number, and has carabiner-like clamps on the front to keep it closed, and it can be used messenger-bag style or backpack-bag style.
Aside from the plethora of propoganda filling the bag like technologically enhanced junk-mail flyers, there were two things in the bag that stuck out as "goodies" (above and beyond the free pen and notepad!):
- SharePoint Resource DVD - includes the SharePoint Server 2007 beta itself, a Virtual Machine image containing an entire office server and client setup, a bunch of videos and slides on additional resources for sharepoint, presentations from the office developer conference in March 2006, and a bunch more videos.
- Windows Vista Beta 2 DVD - this is nice, but most folks at TechEd are MSDN subscribers and have had this for a couple weeks now anyway.
The registration process was smooth, streamlined and efficient, despite a couple of snafus related to my own personal logistics. There weren't nearly as many people down in the registration area as I expected. However, there were a truckload of people in the TechEd store (me included) buying jackets because we all left warmer climates and didn't expect it to be 45 degrees and raining when we all arrived last night.
