So, Visual Studio 2005 Codename "Orcas" is now available in Beta 1 format. You can either download it as a DVD image from your MSDN subscription or you can download a huge Virtual PC image. Given that my view on Orcas is slanted in that, I've already played with LINQ and I know it will be useful, what I am waiting for is the entity framework.
Unfortunately, the Entity Data Model designer is not available in Orcas Beta 1. In short, I've got more important things to do than waste my time on Orcas. I'll re-evaluate Orcas in Beta 2 if they bother to put a designer in but I'm not wasting my time modifying 3 different XML files every time my data model changes just so I can see how pretty the LINQ queries look when querying entities.
