C# 2005 Unleashed gets published in Chinese!

posted Fri 18 Jan 08

When I first saw one of my books published in another language, I was completely shocked. Firstly, I didn't figure anybody would want to read my books in English, let alone other languages. C# 2005 Unleashed was published in Spanish, and my "C# Programming Evolution" book (the book that contained a complete client/server application plus ASP.NET website and web services) was published in French.

Now I get to see what one of my books like published in "simple" Chinese:

I'm not sure what's so "simple" about it, but apparently there are two different kinds of written Chinese, one is simplified for easy reading and is the de facto standard for normal publications. I guess the other kind is used for more formal publications, legal documents, poetry, calligraphy, etc  - but that's just heresay I really have no experience whatsoever with Chinese.

I snapped this picture with my iPhone after some freebie copies of the book arrived at the house today. I may not be making a dime off this book (I have yet to earn enough for a happy meal from this book, regardless of language), but it's pretty satisfying to see it reprinted in other languages!

OK, I'm a little puzzled as to the implication of the Victrola. OK, 2005 was not so long ago.
