Here is my weight loss progress by week (weight taken at end of week):
- 5 pounds
- 4 pounds
- 3 pounds
- 2 pounds
- 4 pounds
I was worried I was going to slump onto a plateau there during week 4, but this last week has really been a good week. I'm finally starting to feel some of the familiar side effects of the weight loss like increased energy, generally more positive mood, and I walk much faster by default (not that I walked slowly before...).
The main difference this week compared to last is the number of gym visits. The week before last my stomach was revolting against the new diet and increased exercise and I actually had to skip several trips to the gym because my stomach couldn't handle it. Now that my stomach has fully adjusted, I was able to go to the gym several times this week. My average gym visit involves jogging on one of those cardio/elliptical bikes for 45 minutes... which averages me 900 calories and 4.8 miles.
I've also noticed that some of the food addiction is easier to handle lately. Now that I've made some progress and I've gone through some of the withdrawal (yes, it is actual, real withdrawal) from junk food and really oversized portions, I no longer have to struggle to avoid going into a Burger King on the way to work in the morning. The day-to-day struggle against eating crappy, fat-filled food is always there, just like any addiction always will be, but it now requires less effort to maintain the "junk food chastity", if you will.
Here's to hoping I'll continue this and be 30 pounds lighter before I get to WWDC.
